“I’m Above That Now” — When Growth Requires Separation

Have you ever looked back over your life and realized that some things, some conversations, and some relationships simply don’t fit you anymore? Not because you’re better than anyone else—but because you’ve grown. Because you’ve matured. Because you’ve finally embraced the reality that where God is taking you... you simply can’t afford to stay where you were.
This is the revelation behind the message: “I’m Above That Now.”
The Painful But Necessary Truth About Growth
Growth is beautiful, but it’s also uncomfortable. One of the hardest lessons in life is realizing that elevation requires separation.
Think about the story of Abraham and Lot in Genesis 13. Their herds had grown so large that conflict started breaking out between their herdsmen. God made it clear—it was time to separate. Not out of hate, not out of bitterness, but because their growth demanded space.
The same principle applies today. There are some people, places, and patterns that were only meant for a season—not for your destiny. Holding on to them too long can create unnecessary conflict, confusion, and spiritual stagnation.
Genesis 31:49 — A Blessing in Parting
Even Jacob and Laban, two men whose relationship had grown strained, recognized this truth. In Genesis 31:49, they declared:
“May the Lord watch between me and thee while we are absent one from another.”
This wasn’t just a farewell. It was a recognition that sometimes separation is necessary for peace, growth, and protection.
Stop Expecting High-Level Fruit From Low-Level Soil
One of the greatest mistakes we make is expecting transformation in toxic environments. You can’t plant peace in the soil of chaos. You can’t plant purpose in the middle of gossip and dysfunction.
✔️ Stop watering dead ground and calling it loyalty.✔️ Stop expecting covenant-level fruit from casual connections.✔️ Stop being frustrated when ground-level people can’t handle your next-level calling.
High-level fruit requires high-level soil. If the ground doesn’t match the seed God has placed in you, it’s time to move.
Pressing Upward: The Power of Letting Go
Paul says it clearly in Philippians 3:13-14:
“Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Pressing upward means prioritizing:
✅ Your peace over pettiness.
✅ Your destiny over drama.
✅ Your calling over comfort.
The higher you go, the clearer your vision becomes. Ever notice how airplanes ascend above the clouds? That’s because turbulence happens at lower altitudes. The higher you rise, the less the turbulence affects you.
You were never designed to live grounded. You were built to rise.
Punchlines to Remember:
“I’m not acting funny—I’m acting focused.”
“Stop coming down to fight battles beneath your anointing.”
“If it costs me my peace, my purpose, or my progress—it’s too expensive.”
“When God calls you higher, comfort becomes your enemy.”
“Some folks are mad because you realized you could fly without them.”
This Is Your Elevation Season
There’s a version of you that God is calling forth. A version that doesn’t have time for small thinking, petty distractions, or cycles of dysfunction. This is your season to rise. This is your season to press. This is your season to declare...

Final Reflection:
Ask yourself today:
What am I holding on to that no longer serves my destiny?
Where is God calling me higher?
What boundaries do I need to create to protect my peace and my purpose?
