SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY

Text: Judges 16 Theme: Compromise kills quietly

Some of our greatest battles aren’t spiritual attacks…they are relational agreements.

Samson didn’t lose his strength in a fight. He lost it in a lap.

And that’s the danger—when the enemy doesn’t show up looking like a devil, but like a desire.

Delilah didn’t bind Samson. She befriended him.

She didn’t attack his calling—she studied it.

Judges 16 tells us Samson loved a woman in the Valley of Sorek.Notice—love came before loss.

Because the enemy always attaches himself to something you care about.

1. Anointing Does Not Cancel Appetite

Samson was chosen.Samson was gifted.Samson was powerful.

But Samson was also undisciplined.

You can be anointed and still be attracted to what will destroy you. You can preach powerfully and still text foolishly. You can lay hands publicly and lose ground privately.

The tragedy is not that Samson loved Delilah. The tragedy is that he trusted her with sacred information.

Some things God gives you are not for everybody’s ears.

2. The Enemy Always Asks the Same Question

Delilah keeps asking:“Tell me where your great strength comes from.”

She wasn’t trying to help him grow—she was trying to help him fall.

Anybody who keeps pressing you about your boundaries is not curious. They are calculating.

If they don’t respect your no,they will never protect your yes.

3. Sleep Is When Discernment Dies

Verse 19 says, “She made him sleep upon her knees.”

Samson slept. The razor worked. The power left.

The enemy doesn’t rush destruction. He waits until you’re comfortable.

That’s why the Bible says,“Be sober. Be vigilant.”

Because the devil doesn’t need to overpower you—he just needs to wear you down.

APPLICATION & CLOSE

Some of us are bleeding strength right now and wondering why prayer feels weak. You’re not under attack—you’re under agreement.

You laid down with what God told you to stand against.

But hear me—God didn’t leave Samson when his hair was cut. God left when Samson stopped guarding covenant.

And if you wake up, God will restore strength.

🔥 “Lord, wake me up from every relationship, habit, and agreement that is draining my strength.”
